Located near Celebration Park, Idaho’s only archaeological park, Map Rock showcases another side of Idaho’s fascinating history. The large basalt rock boasts a petroglyph map believed to show the Snake and Salmon rivers as well as the animals that existed during the time it was created.

Things to Know

  • Directions: From Nampa, travel south on Highway 45. Turn right on Map Rock Road. Travel 7.3 miles to Map Rock, located on the right side of the road.
  • The site has a boat ramp, parking areas, outhouses, solar-powered lighting and walk-in access to the Snake River. Camping is not permitted.
  • Open year-round, from dawn to dusk.
